Newland House - W Properties

Congratulations to this month's winners of the Where and What is this challenge!  And the winners are: Carissa A., Jack B, and Rocco C

The correct answer which many of you guessed is the Newland house in Huntington Beach. The Newland house is one of the first residences ever built in Huntington Beach In 1898 the home was built for William and Mary Newland and their 10 children. The house was originally built on a ranch with over 500 acres of land bordering Beach Blvd. To Magnolia and from Yorktown to Atlanta. The Newland ranch grew lima beans, sugar beets, celery and chili peppers. The Newland's paid $1485 to build their home. The turret at the front of the house was Mr Newland's office.

If you would like to take a trip down memory lane the house is now a museum, open on the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month.

A barn was built towards the back of the Newland house which can be rented out for weddings and special events. For information on park facilities or to make a reservation call Community Services at (714) 536-5486
